Los turbidímetros son instrumentos que miden la concentración de sedimentos en suspensión en las aguas marinas. Los líquidos pueden contener materia sólida en suspensión que consiste en partículas de tamaños muy diversos.
El COO cuenta con dos: el primero se encuentra a 2m de profundidad y el segundo se esta en una estructura metálica junto a el medidor de corriente. El turbidímetro incorporado en la estructura metálica es una OBS-3 y se encuentra aproximadamente a 10 m de profundidad. OBS-3 detecta la luz dispersada entre 140 ° y 160 °
